Well, we've finally arrived..... That's right, Paige is potty training, and doing well, I might add!... We started this past week. It went like this... Paige had one of her "times" when she wanted to sit on the toilet. I try to never deny her that. My thought was that once she actually went on the toilet, she would know what it was. Then we could go from there! Well, she actually DID go that night! So, we talked about it and told her she would have a tub of surprises to choose from each time she went on the toilet. Something we had at home and had been telling her she could have when she pottied was skittles. So, that night she got a couple skittles for going.... As I should have known with Paige, the next day--after having gone out to the dollar store and purchasing several fun little things for her "surprises"--she would have been completely satisfied with skittles! Well, she's been doing great! Yes, we've had a few accidents!! (At Wal-Mart--that was my favorite!) But truly she's doing GREAT! Today, we had NO accidents! Even at church! I don't even think she's gotten anything out of her surprise tub either!... She's just going because she likes being a big girl!.... We have yet to go #2--any suggestions??.... I've tried asking her what the problem is, but she doesn't really say.... So, we'll just keep trying with that!.. She IS staying dry all night and through her naps as well! So, if we can just get the #2 down, she'll be set!
One of Paige's surprises was a pair of pretty, blue, sparkly flip flops! Here she's posing for me!

Oh what a big girl! It sounds like she is doing soooo good! You know with both my kids the pooping came about two weeks after they got the peeing down. I don't know why. With Ava, I finally had to give up the fight and I was happy for her just to ask me for a pullup so she would poop in that. But two weeks in, she was ready.
My only suggestion would be if you kind of know what time she usually goes and be near the potty at that time.
But you're doing great! Yea! Such a milestone!
Way to go Paigey!!! She is doing great! I like the surprise box idea...i remember how much Zion liked that! That will be nice to only have one in diapers too, huh?! Miss you guys...can't wait to see you! Tell Paige, Nana is soooo proud of her! Love YOu!
Yeah, Paige!! Aren't you excited, Sara, to soon have only one in diapers?!!
I have no advice for you as far as pooping goes, sorry.:( It was a very traumatic process in our house. Iris, too, got the peeing part down great and struggled with the pooping. She knew what to do and would run for the bathroom, but it totally freaked her out to actually do the deed. Lots of crying/screaming etc... I went to Russia later in the summer, and I don't know what Todd did, but by the time I came back it was magically better. I wonder if some of it is they just have to want to on their own and for us as mommies not to force it (I'm all about control so this is hard for me). I think as long as she's got one part down the rest will come soon!!
Great job, Paige!! I LOVE the sparkley flip flops! You lucky, lucky girl!
Sara, we are going through this with Noah right now. We did a sticker chart and he has done wonderful. I think he's only had 2 or 3 accidents, but we are having trouble with # 2 as well. He's a smart little booger and goes at naptime when I put his diaper on him. He has only gone on the potty once and he was frantic about it.
I didn't want to bribe with food, but just today I started with, "If you # 2 on the big boy potty you will get a Lightening McQueen sticker and some Ice Cream!" It hasn't worked yet - UHHHH!
I'm glad she's doing so well. She looks so grown up. I love the tub with toys idea. Didn't you use this with Zion?
yes, i used the surprise tub w/ zion and it worked like a charm! he was literally trained in a day!!!.... i know what you mean about bribing with food--i have tried VERY hard to NOT do that!!! but it was the only thing in the house and paige had had her eye on those skittles for a LONG time!... so, we're working on it... paige almost went #2 today! but for some reason, quit trying.... i suppose we'll get it soon! i'm hoping it will come in the next week like others have said... thanks everyone!:)
Sara, this is so great. I think you should come work with Ava when your finished with Paige. :)
Okay mommy, I need all the advice you can give about potty training! We have been working on it with Sarai but now that she is 2, I really want to try to get it down. Good thing is she likes the potty and will sit on it for as long as you let her; problem is, she hasn't done anything yet. I like the idea of the goody box and having her pick things out to go in in. We might have to "borrow" your idea :-) Glad Paige is doing so well with it and hopefully Sarai will be following close behind her.
eskai, if i can say anything, it's this..... don't force it!! it's more frustrating for everyone!! she'll go when she's ready!... like i said, paige randomly just went when we "sat" on the potty and so i tried running with it! it stuck this time! i'm SO glad!... i would try things, if i were you, but seriously, don't force it! so many people have said to me, "they won't go to school in diapers! just be patient!..." it's hard, but worth it! zion was a little older than paige when he started, but it was actually easier! he was trained in a day! paige is doing GREAT now--no accidents, just apprehensive about going #2... you'll get there! can't wait to hear all about it!:)
SUPERMOM! Is there anyway that when we get our little guy, you could come and live with us and teach us how to do these things???? YOU ARE AMAZING! Love ya!

I love the flip flops, they're so cute! It is so wonderful to have them potty trained, and now I'm going to start all over again with a baby! I can hardly believe it, but I am SO incredibly thankful that you'll be here with me when I have him- YEAH!
Love you all.
I won't comment on the #2 thing, but way to go on the #1, Paige!
